My Journey with The Chopra Center
In 2010, my husband and I visited the Chopra Center for the first time. The stress in our lives had reached a breaking point and we were searching for a way to regain the peaceful balance that once existed. We had no idea what to expect but we were at a point where we were ready to try something new. Honestly, we were just plain tired of the feeling that the stress in our lives was something that we had to accept. We had originally been planning a different type of trip; the kind where you lay on the beach, kick back and sip some drinks with those little umbrellas hanging off the sides, so we were definitely stepping outside of our comfort zone when we set out for Carlsbad, California.
The program we attended was The Weekend Within, which is a sort of Chopra Center “sampler”. The program was created for anyone seeking balance, healing and transformation and included instruction in Primordial Sound meditation, Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga, and Ayurvedic Health. It offered us an opportunity to leave the chaos of our daily lives behind and embrace a practice that would empower us to move forward from a place of control and peace. On our way out to California, my husband said, “This is, quite possibly, the dumbest thing I have ever let you drag me into.” It was in fact the most relevant vacation we ever shared; my husband loved the experience! It changed the pace of our lives. It changed how we interacted with our three teenage sons. It changed the atmosphere in our home. It changed how we interacted with one another. But most of all, it transformed our walk through life.
Over the following four years, I returned to the Chopra Center to study and obtain the title Chopra Center Master Educator. It has been quite an experience, one that I love to share with anyone that is interested in visiting the Chopra Center for a weekend, a week or to become a Chopra Educator. My favorite program is Seduction of the Spirit because during this week Deepak and his celebrated world famous guests guide you through a week of turning inward and really focusing on what matters in life. It is a week of serious introspection and life shifting exercises that gently steer you into a place of self-acceptance, meaning and transformation.
